IVUmed in partnership with Hopital General Idrissa Pouye (HOGIP) will be conducting a Female Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Workshop to be held October 16-21, 2022 in Dakar, Senegal and we need your support!
Urinary incontinence, obstetric fistulas and female pelvic dysfunction is grossly under reported and under treated in sub-Saharan Africa. These issues can lead to women being ostracized from their communities, isolation from families, depression as well as a significant decrease in quality of life. The trickle-down effect from this is profound and affects all aspects of society.
Team members for this workshop include Suzette Sutherland, MD, MS, FPMRS, Associate Professor of Urology and Director of Female Urology at the University of Washington Pelvic Health Center in Seattle, Washington, and Chloe Peters, MD, Resident in Urology at the University of Washington. They will be working closely with long time IVUmed international partners Serigne Gueye, MD, FWACS and Madina NDoye, MD from HOGIP. The team will be conducting lectures and training seminars to medical trainees and healthcare providers, as well as providing life altering surgeries and care to women in need.
The lack of specialists trained to treat women with urinary incontinence, fistulas and pelvic dysfunction globally, has led IVUmed to begin a new initiative to provide specialized multidisciplinary training and education in all areas of female pelvic health. With experts like Dr. Sutherland and Dr. Peters and partners like Dr. Gueye and Dr. NDoye our hope is to build healthcare capacity so that any and every woman with these issues can access care in their own communities.
Your support will help us continue with our mission of increasing access to quality urologic care worldwide.
