My first trip with IVU was to Dakar, Senegal. It opened my eyes to the marvel of traveling. The culture of Senegal was both the strangest and most familiar thing I’ve ever experienced. We spent the week performing complex urethroplasties. During one of the surgeries, the power went out in the hospital. Immediately everyone in the operating room grabbed their phone, and we continued the operation by cellphone light.
