Dr. Steve Kahan - Nubble Light Challenge July 10, 2010, York, Maine
Dear Friends, Many of you know I have been working with IVUMED for a number of years. IVUMED is a unique philanthropic organization that was founded to provide urological care to people around the world who do not have access to the quality of care we take for granted in the developed world. I personally have participated in three surgical missions. In 1999 I traveled to Indore India, and in 2008 and 2009 I worked in Vietnam in Ho Chi Minh City and Hue respectively. I have also served as an IVUMED board member since 2005. IVUMED provides medical and surgical education to nurses and physicians in developing countries and has treated thousands of suffering children and adults. Physicians and nurses donate their time to provide this care. Additionally, much of the supplies and equipment are donated. While we are fortunate to have significant support and donations we need more to continue to provide appropriate, needed, quality care in third world countries. On July 10th I am participating in the Nubble Light Challenge, a 2.4 mile swim in the chilly waters off the coast of Maine. I thought this would be a great opportunity to punish my body for a cause and to use the swim to raise awareness and funds for IVUMED. I am hoping to raise $10,000 and would greatly appreciate your contribution. Please consider making a contribution to IVUMED. No contribution is too large or small and every donation helps. $10,000 will provide funding for an entire surgical mission in a developing country. This will enable us to provide needed care that will forever improve our patients’ lives. Thanks for your support. Steve
